No need to check your eyes, because you really did see Krusteaz Gluten Free Honey Cornbread Mix Review written on your screen.
Boxed gluten-free cornbread exists?! No way! And it has real honey, too? I must be dreaming. But I am oh-so-glad that I’m not.
Now, I have no clue how long this stuff has been around. But I’ve personally never seen it on the shelves before, so when I saw this I practically collapsed into the women behind me. Then, after catching myself, I threw the box into my cart without my boyfriend seeing. (It’s okay, he won’t be mad when he has a warm cornbread muffin in his hand later.)
My Rating for the Krusteaz Gluten Free Honey Cornbread Mix Review:
This boxed mix can be picked up at your local Wal-mart or health food store or purchased online straight from their website. It was incredibly easy to make with simple-to-follow instructions mapping the entire way. To make this mix, it only requires 1 egg, 2/3 cup milk (I used almond milk), and 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter.
*If you go to Krusteaz’s website, you can use their “Where to Buy” locator to find a store nearest to you that carries the product you’re searching for. You can adjust to look at stores in a 5, 10, or 20 mile radius to you.
Currently, this boxed mix costs $5.39 on their website, with a requirement of buying at-least 2 boxes. Although, I do feel that I bought it cheaper from Wal-mart. (But, please don’t quote me on that.)
Regardless, I feel this mix is priced reasonably for the high-quality product you receive. The amount of muffins it yielded were enough to last as additions to 3-4 dinners, with me being the one to eat the majority of them.
The taste of this cornbread mix was no doubt a 5/5. It was so moist and tender that if you gave this to anyone without telling them what it was, no one would have a clue it was gluten-free. It tasted so much like the cornbread I grew up eating, that it almost felt like I was cheating. But this mix is 100% gluten-free, I assure you. This mix may just rival any other non gluten-free cornbread mix on the market.
I felt the addition of real honey was a great touch to this mix. It gave it a slight sweetness while still being able to pair with savory dishes, like a vegetable chili or soup.
One of the most important aspects of a gluten-free product is the texture. Some products get it absolutely right and others leave you with a product a little too dense or a little too crunchy. But not with this one.
This cornbread mix lived up to my every expectation. It was light, airy, and moist. (Plus, it didn’t fall apart or crumble after each bite.)
Krusteaz’s Gluten Free Honey Cornbread Mix is going up there to my top five favorite gluten-free boxed mixes I’ve ever tried.
It seems so silly, but cornbread was something I really missed. It’s fun, summery, and just plain old reminds me of childhood. The fact that I can now make it on a whim so easily, means everything to me. And nothing is more important than that.
I hope you have a similar experience, whether it’s sentimental or not. Also, please let me know if you’ve tried out this mix and how you like it!
