King Arthur Flour’s Gluten-Free mixes are the stuff of my dreams.
If you’ve seen my first King Arthur review you probably know that by now. But if you haven’t, here is a link to the moistest gluten-free boxed yellow cake I’ve ever had. Gluten-Free King Arthur Flour Yellow Cake Mix Review
Just thinking about it makes me want to make it again but I have to focus on this muffin mix review first.
Let’s start with what the box tells us.
This muffin mix is certified gluten-free, Non GMO, fortified with Iron, Calcium, Vitamin B, and contains no artificial preservatives. This might make you think that it will expire rather quickly -but it won’t!
It’s “best by” date stretched to six months after I purchased it, making this a great item to stock up on to have ready for the days you have a sweet tooth.
This was actually the first time I’ve tried out this mix and I must mention something that I overlooked when adding it to my cart.
Originally, I thought this was blueberry muffin mix. My eyes immediately saw the gorgeous photo of the muffin and then glanced at “muffin mix”. Those two elements combined in my mind equaled “blueberry muffin mix”, however it is not, which I can see very clearly now. So, if you’re expecting blueberry muffins, you’d better pick some fresh blueberries up while you’re still at the store!
This slight confusion is all my own doing, not King Arthur’s. In fact, I’m much more enthused over this plain muffin mix because it has so many possibilities. You’ll be able to have the guarantee of delicious muffins you know and love, all while changing up the game. Banana-nut muffins, chocolate chip, pumpkin, you name it!
Rather a genius touch, really.
That being said, I had to use the ingredients that I had on hand, which were a few handfuls of walnuts and cinnamon-sugar. Thus, my Cinnamon & Walnut muffins were born. These. Were. So. Good.
It took all but 10 minutes to add all of the ingredients and mix everything till smooth. What I wound up with were perfectly browned, tender, and delicious muffins.
The smell of them baking made my entire morning all on its own.
Convenience: 5/5 You can pick these muffins up online or in a local store such as Walmart. Once you begin to make the mix, you’ll have muffins ready within the hour.
Price: 4/5 The mix is $6.95 online at King Arthur Flour’s website. I’m a penny-pincher so I’d love to see for the price of gluten-free items to go down someday. But, for now this is a steal for the quality product you recieve.
Taste: 5/5 I couldn’t have asked for more delicious muffins.
Texture: 5/5 These muffins were everything you want in a muffin. Light but dense, sweet but not overkill, and perfectly tender. I was very pleased with how “no-mess” these muffins were, not a single crumb fell from them as you took a bite and they slipped right out of the pan without a fight.
Have you tried out this boxed-mix? If so, let me know how it went!
